Why I started Posto9 and became an entrepreneur and how you can join me!

FREEDOM to work when I want and where I want is the reason I became an entrepreneur. You can read part of the story below.

But also to work with a project that helps others, and encourages other people to take the same step, especially women.

Since our production is made by women in empoverished areas of Rio de Janeiro, the more we produce the more we help them to become independent.

JOIN THE #POSTO9team

So now the time has come to enlist more people to join the team.

I have created a sales incentive, for like-minded ambassadors to start earning commission on sales generated with their code.

You can enrol in this exciting program here and it is open to everyone who has a desire to start running their own business, to earn extra cash, or to take it to the next level.

The more sales you generate the more you earn, so if you already have a good social media following why not make the most of it.

Together we can make a difference.

My personal journey

After finishing my fashion design degree at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London, I worked for a bit with Boudicca, styled some music videos and commercials, but had not found my niche yet. When I discovered digital design, I used this as a creative outlet and worked for many years as a freelance designer, and in between contracts I traveled to Rio de Janeiro where I discovered Brazilian lycra. Naturally I came back with a suitcase full of leggings, justified by having started to teach Zumba Fitness in my spare time. And everyone asked me where I got them from.

So off I went, back to Rio, to do more research. I did have a head start because of my fashion degree but it was a very steep learning curve, with lots of sampling, tests, blood sweat and tears before finally having a prototype I was happy with. I also knew I did not want to work with large factories, and on a day out researching with my partner in crime Jo, we stumbled upon Adriana and her corner sewing shop in the north part of Rio. And everything finally clicked. Once I had my production line sorted, I knew I had to do lots of fairs and shows, so people could touch and feel the fabric for themselves. So I spent 3 years participating in the OmYoga show, and BeFit in London, UK, The Yoga Games in Stockholm, Sweden, and various pop-ups in Yoga studios across London and Ibiza.

As happens when you start your own business, many times you fall flat on your face, you end up in debt and it is so tempting to just throw in the towel. But the important thing is not to give up!! And we have been going and growing since 2013!

I kept on freelancing on the side until finally taking the plunge and dedicating 100% of my time to Posto9 in 2016, and I have not looked back. In 2017 I moved to Ibiza, which I had been dreaming of for many years. As I can live wherever there is good internet, I can do my job, travel, live in an amazing place and have the lifestyle I want.

It is so exciting to be part of this company, and grow and learn new things every day. And maybe I can inspire someone else to become an entrepreneur too.

To be continued…
